(I do have the pro version btw so some things might be different from the free version). I personally like that I can drag and drop 3D models I can pose in Clip Art Studio and trace over them without having to switch programs. Maybe watch some people draw on Youtube and see what you think, idk. I'm sure there are articles out there comparing the two. When you say the pen tool, are you talking about making points like in vector? Clip Art Studio also has a function similar to that where you can draw straight lines or continuous curves. Not to mention Clip Art Studio is a flat rate while Photoshop you have to keep paying for it, it's cheaper in the long run to go with Clip Art Studio. Photoshop is useful for touching up the photo or fixing some seam mistakes and whatnot, but lacks illustration wise to me. Imo clip art studio to me is the superior program for drawing. TL'Dr: Should I use ClipStudio or Photoshop for drawing ? Is there anyway I can fix the shortcoming of one of them ? I know I can detach the painting in a window but having the layers next to the drawing is very helpfull. Being right handed I find it easier to draw on the right side. One final thing, in Photoshop the background is on the left side while in ClipStudio the drawing is on the right side.

I want to use Photoshop cuz I feel like the pen and selection tools are just an absolute must but if someone can explain to me how to use those in ClipStudioPaint then I would probably remain on ClipStudio, if not then I'm switching back to Photoshop and I'll try to import the brushes.

Now I imagine that maybe all of the tools are on both programs or one may install them on both programs but I don't have that much knowledge yet. On the other hand ClipStudio has way better brushes and it's just easier to use and the image rotation tool it's of tremendous help. I've recently made a switch to clipstudiopaint and while there are a lot of things I love compared to Photoshop one think that it's bothering me it's the lack of the pen tool and the much more limited selection options clipstudio has.
